Transforming Practice Through Reflection

The benefits of reflective practices for staff working in complex settings is commonly assumed, but also often poorly defined and understood. This session provides a comprehensive exploration of the role of reflection in a trauma-sensitive workplace – how it contributes to thoughtful, evidence-informed and intentional practice within complex, high-stress operational environments.

The session will cover:

  • Definitions of reflective practice and its relevance to professionals
  • The neurobiology of reflection – how reflection changes the brain
  • Approaches to engage in reflection in individual, paired or group contexts, and the benefits of each
  • Strategies to build reflective skills over time

Participants will receive tools and resources to enable them to plan immediate integration of learning into the workplace, as well as monitor the development of their reflective skills over time.

This training is valuable for practitioners and leaders wanting to ensure that their professional toolkit is evidence-informed and responsive to real-life work contexts.
