Children experience trauma differently from adults, and professionals working with children need a solid understanding of trauma’s impact and pathways for healing. This session introduces the essentials of developmental trauma, emphasising the unique impacts of childhood trauma, the significance of addressing unmet needs behind behaviours, and the critical role of safe, nurturing relationships.
Participants will explore the neurobiological implications of trauma, the importance of relational resourcing in a child’s daily life, and the necessity of individualised child-centred interventions. By understanding these principles, professionals can create environments that promote resilience and recovery in children and families affected by trauma.
Target Audience: Supervisors, practitioners and people in care giving roles for children who have experienced trauma
Duration: Full or half day
